Hollie Strano Transitions to Radio After WKYC Departure: A New Chapter in Her Career

Hollie Strano, a seasoned meteorologist with over two decades of experience, has embarked on a new journey in the media industry following her departure from WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland. Strano, who had been with the station for 22 years, was let go in September 2024 after a high-profile incident during the previous Thanksgiving. She was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing her vehicle into a utility pole and fire hydrant in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Her blood alcohol content was reported to be more than three times the legal limit. Following the incident, Strano pleaded guilty to a first-degree misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle under the influence. She was sentenced to a fine, a six-day driver intervention program, and a one-year license suspension. Despite her remorse and efforts to recover, Strano believes her termination was influenced by her openness about her struggles with alcoholism. She filed a lawsuit against her former employer, alleging wrongful dismissal linked to her public discussions about her recovery journey.

In her new role, Strano is providing weather forecasts for Mix 94.1, a radio station based in Canton, Ohio. She delivers daily updates remotely from Cleveland, connecting with listeners across Stark County. The station has welcomed her back to the airwaves, highlighting her extensive experience and commitment to the community. Strano expressed her excitement for this new chapter, stating, “Let’s do this Stark County! So much love for you, Canton! Thank you for having me!”

Beyond her work at Mix 94.1, Strano has expanded her reach through podcasting. She hosts “Abruptly Authentic,” a podcast where she discusses topics related to sobriety, mental health, and personal growth. Available on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, the podcast aims to inspire and support others facing similar challenges.
