Hannah Einbinder’s First Emmy Win Goes Loud and Proud at 2025 Awards

Hannah Einbinder clinched her first Emmy after four nominations, winning Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Ava Daniels on Hacks. The moment marked a milestone, both for her performance and for those who’ve followed her journey.

During her acceptance speech, Einbinder delivered heartfelt thanks to the creators, her co-star Jean Smart, and the cast and crew of Hacks. She reflected on the experience of being nominated repeatedly without winning and called this victory “punk rock.”

The speech took a more political turn in its closing moments when she said, “Go birds, f— ICE and free Palestine.” The words about ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) were bleeped in the live TV broadcast, though parts of what she said reached the audience. Backstage, she explained her advocacy, saying she has personal connections to humanitarian efforts in Gaza and emphasized the distinction she draws between Jewish identity and political policies of Israel.

The category also featured notable nominees including Catherine O’Hara, Janelle James, Jessica Williams, Kathryn Hahn, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Einbinder also revealed during the Emmys that Hacks will end with its upcoming fifth season, calling the decision bittersweet but right for the show.
