Actor Matt Smith is embracing a bold new look for his role in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film Caught Stealing. Spotted on set in New York City, Smith sports a vibrant, multi-colored mohawk, black leather jacket, plaid pants, and boots, channeling a 1990s punk aesthetic. His transformation has garnered attention, showcasing his commitment to the character.

Caught Stealing, based on Charlie Huston’s 2005 novel, follows Hank Thompson, a former baseball player turned bartender, who becomes entangled in New York City’s criminal underworld after agreeing to watch his neighbor’s cat. Smith portrays Russ, the punk-rock neighbor, whose unexpected return thrusts Hank into a $4 million crime scheme involving various gangs. The film also stars Austin Butler, Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Liev Schreiber, and Bad Bunny.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, known for his work on The Whale, Caught Stealing marks his first major project since 2022. The film is set to be released on August 29, 2025, offering audiences a gritty glimpse into the chaotic world of 1990s New York.
