Actress Jurnee Smollett has shared heartfelt appreciation for her Smoke co-star Taron Egerton, describing him as a “lovely human being” following a touching gesture during the filming of the Apple TV+ crime drama. Egerton, known for his role as arson investigator Dave Gudsen, presented Smollett’s 8-year-old son, Hunter, with a Vancouver Canucks hockey jersey as a wrap gift after filming concluded. Smollett revealed that Hunter had developed a close bond with Egerton during the shoot, and the gift was a reflection of Egerton’s kindness and thoughtfulness. “Taron couldn’t be more different than his character and is just a lovely human being and kind and a generous team partner and buddies with Hunter, my son,” Smollett expressed.
The positive atmosphere on set extended beyond Egerton. Smollett also formed strong relationships with fellow cast members, including Greg Kinnear, John Leguizamo, and series creator Dennis Lehane. She described the filming environment as “a beautiful environment,” highlighting the camaraderie and support among the cast and crew.
